EXPLORE THE PRACTICES

The RE/SET experience brings ancient Eastern-inspired practices together with leading-edge restorative wellness tools to support the body’s ability to slow down, regulate, and reconnect within a parasympathetic state.

Some practices are ancient. Some are supported by emerging research. All are offered with care, intention, and respect for the body with therapeutic methodologies.

Nature as Medicine

Experiences rooted in the natural world.

Forest Bathing

Forest bathing, or Shinrin-yoku, is the practice of slowing down and taking in the forest through the senses. It is not about hiking fast or “doing” nature. It is about letting the body notice the trees, air, sounds, textures, and pace of the natural world.

Research on forest bathing suggests it may help reduce stress markers like cortisol, support mood, and encourage a shift away from high-alert states toward rest and recovery. At RE/SET, forest bathing helps guests arrive in the body before moving into deeper restorative practices.

Grounding Practices

Grounding is the practice of reconnecting with the earth through simple, body-based awareness. This may include standing, walking, breathing, or resting with attention on the ground beneath you.

Some grounding research suggests potential benefits for stress, sleep, inflammation, mood, and nervous system regulation, although the evidence is still developing and should be understood as complementary wellness support rather than medical treatment. At RE/SET, grounding helps guests feel steady, present, and connected to the natural setting.

Intentional Movement in Nature

Intentional movement is gentle movement done with awareness. Instead of pushing the body, we invite it to soften, open, and move in rhythm with the environment.

Movement outdoors can help bring attention back into the body, release physical tension, and create a sense of ease. At RE/SET, this practice is not about performance. It is about helping the body remember that movement can be restorative.

Guided Birdsong Awareness

There is a reason the body responds to singing birds. Natural soundscapes, including birdsong, can act as cues of safety and help shift attention away from stress and into the present moment.

Research has found that listening to birdsong can reduce anxiety and support a more positive emotional state. At RE/SET, guided birdsong awareness helps guests tune into the sanctuary as part of the practice itself.

Eastern Traditions

Practices refined over centuries.

Daoist (Taoist) Principles

Daoist (also commonly spelled Taoist) principles emphasize harmony with nature, balance, simplicity, and living in alignment with the natural flow of life. Rather than forcing the body into stillness, these practices invite guests to work with, rather than against, their own natural rhythm.

At RE/SET, these principles shape the way the day unfolds: less pushing, more listening. Less performance, more presence. The goal is not to escape life, but to return to it with greater balance, clarity, and connection.

Qi Gong-Inspired Practices

Qi Gong is a traditional Chinese mind-body practice that combines slow movement, breath, posture, and awareness. The intention is to support the movement of energy, or qi, through the body.

Research on Qi Gong suggests it may support stress management, mood, sleep, and overall wellbeing. At RE/SET, Qi Gong-inspired movement is offered gently, as a way to help the body settle and reconnect.

Kundalini Breathwork

Kundalini breathwork uses intentional breathing patterns to shift energy, attention, and awareness in the body. It can feel energizing, emotional, grounding, or deeply clarifying depending on the person and the practice.

At RE/SET, breathwork is guided with care and choice. Guests are encouraged to listen to their bodies and participate at a level that feels supportive. The purpose is not intensity for intensity’s sake. It is to create space for release, regulation, and reconnection.

Acupressure & Energy Balancing

Acupressure works with specific points on the body that are traditionally understood to influence energy flow, tension, and balance. Unlike acupuncture, acupressure uses touch or pressure rather than needles.

Research suggests acupressure may help reduce anxiety in some settings, especially when used as a supportive, non-invasive practice. At RE/SET, acupressure and energy balancing are used to help guests soften tension, restore steadiness, and reconnect with the body.

Modern Modalities

Tools informed by emerging research.

Outdoor Sound Immersion with Acutonics®

At the heart of RE/SET's outdoor sound immersion is Acutonics®, a therapeutic system that integrates calibrated tuning forks with the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, working alongside aromatherapy, colour therapy, mindful movement, and the restorative environment of the forest.

Guided by Leshift Institute, this immersive experience is designed to encourage deep relaxation, support nervous system regulation, and help you reconnect with your own natural rhythm. As the sounds of nature blend with vibration and frequency, many guests describe feeling more balanced, grounded, and attuned to what resonates most deeply within them.

Red Light Therapy

Red light therapy, also known as photobiomodulation, uses specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light to support the body’s recovery environment. It is commonly used in wellness and performance settings for recovery, inflammation support, skin health, and pain-related applications.

At RE/SET, red light therapy is offered through Kala Therapy, a Canadian wellness technology brand named the Official Wellness Recovery Partner of Team Canada. Their partnership with the Canadian Olympic Committee reflects the growing role of red light therapy in recovery, performance, and total athlete wellness.

Binaural Frequencies

Binaural frequencies use two slightly different tones played into each ear, creating the perception of a third pulsing tone in the brain. Many people use binaural beats to support focus, relaxation, meditation, or sleep.

Research is still emerging, but reviews suggest binaural beats may offer benefits for anxiety, sleep, and cognitive states for some people, depending on the frequency, setting, and individual response. At RE/SET, binaural frequencies are used as part of the sound environment to support a deeper state of relaxation.

Biofield Tuning

Biofield tuning is an energy-based sound practice that uses tuning forks around the body to support balance, awareness, and relaxation. It is based on the idea that the body has an energetic field that can respond to vibration and intention.

Biofield therapies are being studied within integrative health, though the evidence is still emerging. At RE/SET, biofield tuning is offered as a complementary wellness practice to support energetic balance, deep listening, and a more grounded return to the body.

A Note on Wellness

RE/SET is a restorative wellness experience, not medical treatment. The practices offered are intended to support relaxation, reflection, nervous system regulation, and general wellbeing. They are not a substitute for medical, psychological, or therapeutic care.
